HSE Management Standards and burnout dimensions among rehabilitation professionals

Abstract Background The Health & Safety Executive Indicator Tool (HSE-IT) is a standard-based questionnaire commonly used to assess work-related stress in organizations. Although the HSE-IT validity has been well documented and significant relationships have observed between its scales several outcomes, date there no evidence concerning burnout among healthcare workers. Aims To investigate subscales dimensions as measured by Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) sample of Italian rehabilitation professionals employed institutions. Methods An anonymous cross-sectional was administered including physical therapists, occupational psychiatric technicians developmental psychomotor therapists. Associations MBI were analysed with multiple linear regression models. Results A total 432 completed 14% them showed high levels risk. Significant differences scores found workers at risk low burnout. Hierarchical regressions an association factors: emotional exhaustion associated ‘demands’ ‘role’, both depersonalization personal accomplishment ‘control’ ‘role’. Conclusions This preliminary study are sensitive MBI. ‘demands’, ‘role’ but small. These findings might inform targeted prevention.
